dc.description.abstractThis bachelor thesis includes a breakdown of definitions related to the classification of aircraft, primarily into lighter-than-air and heavier-thanair categories. The theoretical section focuses on the history and development of lighter-than-air aircraft. The next section discusses the technological challenges and regulatory requirements for transitioning from manned to unmanned lighter-than-air aircraft. In the final section, the economic efficiency and environmental impact of lighter-than-air aircraft are compared with heavier-than-air aircraft. The Skyship 600 and Cessna 208B Grand Caravan G1000 are specifically compared. Lastly, we assess these aircraft in the context of photogrammetry, forest liming, and environmental monitoring of habitats.
