Item Design and implementation of an alternative Rotax 915is engine management system(University of Žilina, 2023) Psárska, Vanesa Viktória; Čerňan, JozefThe content of this article is design and implementation of an alternative Rotax 915is engine management system. In my research, I worked with a wide-spectrum control unit ECU MASTER designed for the optimization of the injection time of spark-ignition engines and also the control of the ignition advance taking into account several sensors of engine input parameters. The article was created as part of research into the issue of optimal control of piston engines. Current methods of controlling engines and their systems, in principle, allow very precise control of important systems of modern piston engines, especially with regard to the ignition and fuel system. The inclusion of microprocessor units with multiple options for input parameters allow the control unit to take into account even less important parameters, which, however, help the control unit to keep the engine running smoothly while maintaining high combustion efficiency. The elaborated design of a possible alternative engine control system is subsequently connected with the practical realization of this control system. The result of the research is the design of the control system of the Rotax 915is engine and the subsequent practical production and adjustment of the control unit under the name ECU MASTER, which verifies the universal applicability of such a unit for various combustion engines.Item Ignition systems of combustion piston engine and possibility of its optimization(University of Zilina, 2021) Vorlíček, Marek; Čerňan, JozefThis paper explains the basic definition of ignition, combustion and description of the ignition system functionality. The ignition systems are divided according to established criteriums into the most used types and descriptions of each ignition system components. It focuses on ignition timing and circumstances that affect it and how they influence the observed parameters. I am using ignition timing as an instrument for the observation and optimization of ignition. These practices are tested on piston engine in the practical part of this paper. It describes the modification of the timing curve, measuring of engine power and comparison between each curve. It is an analysis of engine performance under different conditions. The most efficient timing curve is chosen and further evaluated. The used engine for this paper was a rebuild from a car engine used in Trabant 601, VEB Automobilwerke automobile.Item MOŽNOSTI ZVYŠOVANIA VÝKONU LETECKÝCH PIESTOVÝCH MOTOROV A ICH VÝVOJ(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Goldschmidt, Jakub; Čerňan, JozefThe purpose of this paper is to refer to possibilities of increasing the power of the aircraft piston engine. In the first part of this thesis I analyze and point out, what in general aircraft piston engine is, what parts the engine is consisted of, and what types of piston engine we know. Further, it is focused on the types of these engines as well as the differences between them. At the core of this thesis I describe the possibilities for increasing the short-term power, or long-term power of the engines, their history and also their advantages and disadvantages.Item PROGRESÍVNE RIEŠENIA OVLÁDANIA ROZVODOVÝCH MECHANIZMOV PRE LETECKÉ PIESTOVÉ MOTORY(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Horák, Tomáš; Čerňan, JozefThe timing mechanism and its control represents the major part of this final thesis. In line with the latest requirements, efforts to discover a new solution that could improve certain parameters of the piston engines might have been marked as the main motivation behind the thesis. The initial part describes the actual piston engine, its operation principles and gradually follows to the timing mechanism. In this way, the reader acquires the knowledge necessary for a better understanding of the following chapters. We have described and compared individual options for controlling the timing mechanisms, which could be found in today´s piston engine. The main idea of this thesis was to analyse the progressive solutions of the control timing mechanisms. Further to that we analyse some specific solutions regarding operation and design, which could be potentially implemented in the aviation industry. Concluding part of the thesis includes, besides others, a pros & cons analysis of the system. Following that we also expressed our idea of how this system could be employed in the aircraft engines. On the one hand, we introduced a positive impact of such implication, but on the other hand, we identified a space for potential improvement.
