Využitie UAV pre monitorovanie a údržbu letiskovej infraštruktúry
(University of Žilina, 2025) Levchenko, Vladyslava; Dianovský, Robert
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore the possibility of implementing UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in the inspection and maintenance of airport infrastructure. The thesis focuses on identifying the most suitable areas in airport operations for UAV deployment and compares their advantages over traditional methods. Within this analysis, the technological capabilities of UAVs, their sensor equipment, and legal aspects of operation are examined in detail. Their application in airport operations and evaluation of implementation efficiency and cost-effectiveness are also investigated. In the practical part, a comparative analysis of two inspection approaches and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of UAV implementation into operations was used. For areas with the highest suitability for UAV deployment, a detailed methodology for their implementation was developed. The results of the thesis show that drones can significantly increase efficiency and safety in performing inspections, especially in areas with extensive and time-consuming operations. UAV implementation also brings economic benefits, such as reduced maintenance costs and limited disruption to airport operations. The conclusions of the thesis suggest that the optimal approach to UAV deployment in airport operations lies in their gradual integration in combination with traditional methods, leading to optimal results in terms of efficiency, safety, and costs.

    U-Space v podmienkach slovenskej republiky
(University of Žilina, 2024) Bejdáková, Natália; Pecho, Pavol
Unmanned aerial vehicles are a dynamically developing industry. With the increasing number of remotely piloted aircraft, emphasis is being placed on ensuring safe operation in shared airspace with manned aircraft. In the countries of the European Union, including Slovakia, the concept of U-Space is gradually being implemented. The bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the current situation in the operation of unmanned aircraft, current legislation, operation rules, and implementation of the U-Space concept in Slovakia. Attention is being concentrated on explaining the concept of U-Space and defining the services, including the responsibilities and obligations of the entities present in this system. The thesis proposes a set of possible implementation solutions to ensure more efficient and faster development in Slovakia. Based on relevant proposals, specific examples of how the situation would change after the implementation of the selected proposals are pointed out. An analysis of the findings based on collected data from the questionnaire is given to determine the level of awareness of the U-Space concept and the improvement of the educational situation in Slovakia. Finally, the technical and economic aspects of U-Space implementation are being evaluated and possible pros and drawbacks are identified.

Methods of implementation PIV system in the wind tunnel of the department of air transport
(University of Zilina, 2022) Remiaš, Matej; Pecho, Pavol
In the early days of aviation, wind tunnels were developed to investigate whether an aircraft is capable of flying, and how capable it was of doing so.They are mainly used as a part of research of aerodynamic forces applied to a model of an aircraft or its parts. There are several methods of measuring the airflow inside a wind tunnel, however this manuscript is concerned with implementation of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), especially the software part, in the conditions of the wind tunnel of the Department of Air Transport. The functions of the software were investigated on the basis of a simple experiment. The poppy seeds were blown on white paper and the images were captured by the camera in slow motion as it moved from side to side and then the images were processed and analyzed. The amount of poppy seeds used varied. The results showed successful use of PIV software and it’s application directly in the wind tunnel of the Department of Aviation for research of the effects of aerodynamic forces in aviation, but also in other areas.

Implementation of artificial intelligence at airports
(University of Zilina, 2021) Jágerský, Martin; Tomová, Anna
This paper deals with the trend of implementation artificial intelligence systems at airports, its meaning and impact on the operational performance and functioning of the airports themselves. After summarizing the theoretical knowledge and examining the current state of the problem, there is created a raster of selected crucial operational processes of airports in which artificial intelligence has been implemented so far. The processing of this raster is based primarily on findings of the implementation of AI systems at five selected hub airports. In the paper, there is also examined a status and prospects of the implementation of artificial intelligence in the form of a questionnaire, especially at airports with a smaller number of handled passengers. This paper also discusses the operational and security implications of this implementation, such as faster check-in, easier baggage handling, easier traveling with biometric technologies, improved security controls at airports, improved operational performance with airport robots and more effective elimination of spreading the diseases at airports. The subject of possible economic and sociological consequences is also approached, due to the possible change in the nature of job from the point of view of airport employees and the creation of a certain kind of cooperation between them and artificial intelligence. The conclusions of this paper also include a proposal for a stronger representation of this area in the study program "air transport" with subsequent possible innovation or creation of new school subjects, in order to gain a deeper knowledge to new graduates in this field.
