(University of Žilina, 2025) Loja, Martin; Rostáš, Ján
This thesis deals with the issue of the airport slot system used in Europe and Ghost flights. It describes the basic principles of the currently used system, the methods of allocating slots and also brings proposals for its improvement in the future. The analysis of this thesis consists of a comparison of allocated slots at two airports in Europe during the winter season at the turn of the years 2022/23 and the winter season at the turn of the years 2024/25. The thesis also discusses the issue of Ghost flights and their connection with the airport slot system. Therefore, the thesis also defines measures to preserve Grandfather slots that were valid during the COVID-19 pandemic. When analyzing Ghost flights, he thesis focuses on the period between 2017 and 2021. The load factor of individual airlines companies was used to identify this type of flight. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the evaluation of the current airport slot system using SWOT analysis. Based on this analysis, the author of the thesis defines his proposals for solving the shortcomings of the currently used airport slot system. The conclusion of this thesis is devoted to the summary of all the knowledge gained within the framework of the topic being processed.

(University of Žilina, 2025) Milac, David; Rostáš, Ján
This article deals with the analysis of current predictive maintenance procedures and possibilities of applying its new procedures in aviation. The article examines the currently used strategies as well as their legislative frameworks and then delves deeper into predictive maintenance strategies. The aim of this article is to analyse the current state of predictive maintenance, highlight the causes of problems with its implementation in practice and to explore the future of this maintenance strategy from technical as well as legislative perspective and finally the trends that will adjust it. On the basis of study of technical articles, legislative regulations and various documents, conclusion have been reached that conclude that predictive maintenance in aviation is undoubtedly a major step forward in the field of aircraft maintenance and preservation of their airworthiness. However, the true potential of predictive maintenance remains, due to existing barriers, a question of the future technological and legislative developments in aviation and aircraft maintenance.

(University of Žilina, 2025) Koreník, Filip; Rostáš, Ján
The main objective of this paper is a comprehensive analysis of the economic and business processes in the case of the introduction of cargo transportation in the cargo compartments of passenger aircraft. The paper focuses on the definition and description of air freight transport, a brief history, types of cargo transported, advantages and disadvantages of air freight transport and the most common business models used in air freight transport. We also analyse the current state of the art in the transportation of cargo in the baggage compartments of passenger aircraft. Subsequently, through the use of research methods, which are data collection and synthesis, literary research, data analysis, PESTLE analysis and also comparison of the resulting data, we have comprehensively analysed the economic aspects in the field of cargo transportation through the use of available cargo hold capacity, thus fulfilling our objective. At the end of the paper, we have tried to suggest possible optimization procedures that could help airlines to increase profit generation.

Optimalizácia technických a logistických procesov na zvýšenie vyťaženosti lietadiel v kombinovanej leteckej preprave
(University of Žilina, 2025) Lehocká, Paulína; Rostáš, Ján
Teoretická časť poskytuje prehľad o štruktúre leteckej nákladnej dopravy, kategorizácii dopravcov a technických špecifikáciách manipulácie s tovarom. Analytická časť vychádza z dát Letiska Košice za roky 2022 – 2024, pričom hodnotí počty cestujúcich, objem nákladu, mieru obsadenosti letov a voľnú hmotnosť lietadiel.

(University of Žilina, 2025) Valo, Sebastián; Rostáš, Ján
With the growing volume of air transport, airports are increasingly dependent on digital check-in systems and the availability of qualified personnel. System outages and staff shortages represent two key challenges that negatively affect the efficiency and fluency of the passenger handling process at airports. This article analyses the current situation at selected airports in Slovakia and the Czech republic, evaluates the causes and consequences of these issues, and proposes concrete solutions, including organizational, technical, and staffing measures. Research results, based on surveys and interviews, highlight the needed for greater airport preparedness for unexpected situations and emphasize the importance of technological modernization.

Aplikačné postupy pre prepravu nebezpečného nákladu v komerčnej leteckej doprave
(University of Žilina, 2024) Burešová, Karin; Rostáš, Ján
This article analyses the transport of dangerous goods, and it focuses primarily on the transport of lithium batteries. To compose this article, we have used various sources, as well as knowledge of the author, gained through the ADR safety advisor training. The IATA DGR Manual was used as the core document for this article as the supporting material for all stakeholders in the process of transport. Based on this document, we have created the theoretical part. The practical part is based on findings of the analysis and documents made by world-recognised companies such as WorldACD, DHL, DSV etc. As the conclusion, we described procedures and the preparation process to transport the lithium batteries.
