One of the top security issues affecting hospitals today is workplace violence. People rarely act violently without warning. Often, there are indicators that may be overlooked, remain unreported, or, even when reported, are not adequately evaluated and addressed. Healthcare facilities must have policies and procedures that require reporting of threatening or unusual behaviours. Having preventive policies and procedures in place is the first step in mitigating violence and providing a safe and secure hospital. The authors describe how to manage staff more efficiently and implement strategic plans to help acquire resources within a restricted revenue environment. Employees performing specific professions who are at increased risk of an accident at work also require a specific approach to safety and health at work. As part of their work, members of the municipal police face a variety of situations in which their safety and health may be compromise. In order to increase the level of safety and health at work at work of members of the municipal police, it is necessary to examine and assess the current state of their safety. The aim of the paper is to analyse the position and evaluate the activities of members of the municipal police, and thus create the conditions for increasing their safety and health.
